We present a maximum-likelihood method for parameter estimation in terahertz time-domain spectroscopy. derive the likelihood function parameterized frequency response function, given pair of waveforms with known time-dependent noise amplitudes. The provides estimates that are superior to other commonly-used methods, and reliable measure goodness fit. also develop simple model is by three dominant sources, their amplitudes terms set repeated waveform measurements. demonstrate applications material characterization.
